Les \u00e9l\u00e8ves des \u00e9coles publiques de Boston continuent de plaider en faveur de la construction d'un lyc\u00e9e permanent dont le zonage est d\u00e9j\u00e0 pr\u00e9vu pour une \u00e9cole<\/strong><\/p>\n

BOSTON - Les \u00e9l\u00e8ves du lyc\u00e9e Roxbury Prep s'assi\u00e9ront en signe de protestation silencieuse lors de la prochaine r\u00e9union de l'Agence de planification et de d\u00e9veloppement de Boston, afin de poursuivre plaider en faveur d'un foyer permanent<\/a> pour leur \u00e9cole secondaire. Au cours des deux derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, Roxbury Prep a eu une proposition pour un nouveau lyc\u00e9e<\/a> sur le site d'un garage de voitures d'occasion et d'un atelier de r\u00e9paration automobile vacants et d\u00e9labr\u00e9s au 361 Belgrade Ave. \u00e0 Roslindale.<\/p>\n

Mais le processus prend beaucoup plus de temps que d'habitude pour ces \u00e9tudiants. Au cours des deux derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, la BPDA a attendu en moyenne 83 jours pour inscrire un projet \u00e0 son ordre du jour apr\u00e8s la cl\u00f4ture de la p\u00e9riode de consultation. Il s'est \u00e9coul\u00e9 plus de 340 jours depuis la cl\u00f4ture de la p\u00e9riode de consultation concernant la proposition de Roxbury Prep pour la construction d'un nouveau lyc\u00e9e.<\/p>\n

QUOI :<\/strong> Les \u00e9l\u00e8ves de Boston assistent \u00e0 la r\u00e9union de la BPDA pour une manifestation silencieuse afin de continuer \u00e0 plaider en faveur d'un b\u00e2timent permanent pour le lyc\u00e9e. <\/p>\n

POURQUOI :<\/strong> Roxbury Prep<\/a> est une \u00e9cole publique \u00e0 charte, gratuite et performante, ouverte \u00e0 tous les \u00e9l\u00e8ves de Boston. Fond\u00e9e il y a 20 ans, elle a pour mission de veiller \u00e0 ce que les \u00e9l\u00e8ves entrent \u00e0 l'universit\u00e9, y r\u00e9ussissent et obtiennent leur dipl\u00f4me. L'ann\u00e9e derni\u00e8re, 94% de sa classe de fin d'\u00e9tudes se sont inscrits dans des \u00e9tablissements d'enseignement sup\u00e9rieur de quatre ans, et 100 % des \u00e9l\u00e8ves de terminale ont suivi au moins un cours d'Advanced Placement (AP), 62 % d'entre eux ayant r\u00e9ussi au moins un examen d'AP, ce qui est bien sup\u00e9rieur \u00e0 la moyenne nationale.<\/p>\n

CONTEXTE :<\/strong> Les \u00e9l\u00e8ves de la Roxbury Prep High School suivent leurs cours dans deux b\u00e2timents distincts situ\u00e9s \u00e0 des kilom\u00e8tres l'un de l'autre. Ils d\u00e9jeunent \u00e0 leur bureau et se rendent \u00e0 pied au YMCA local pour les cours de gymnastique. Ils ont d\u00fb d\u00e9m\u00e9nager trois fois au cours des quatre derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es. Roxbury Prep a propos\u00e9 de construire un lyc\u00e9e ultramoderne au 361 Belgrade Avenue, un terrain qui abrite actuellement un garage automobile et un atelier de r\u00e9paration automobile vacants et d\u00e9labr\u00e9s. Mais depuis plus d'un an, la BPDA retarde la programmation de l'audience n\u00e9cessaire \u00e0 l'avancement du projet. Roxbury Prep a organis\u00e9 de nombreuses r\u00e9unions publiques, a \u00e9cout\u00e9 les commentaires de la communaut\u00e9 et a r\u00e9agi en r\u00e9duisant la taille de l'installation propos\u00e9e. Plus de 2 000 habitants de Boston, dont 800 habitants de Roslindale et de West Roxbury, ont sign\u00e9 une p\u00e9tition en faveur du projet. Plus de 85% des commentaires du public dans le cadre de l'examen approfondi des petits projets au titre de l'article 80 \u00e9taient en faveur du projet.<\/p>\n
