Now Is the Time to Get It Right"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Juliana Worrell, Chief Schools Officer K-8, recently contributed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.the74million.org\/\">The 74 Million<\/a> and responded to NYC Public Schools Chancellor David Banks&#8217; recent comments on reading education.<\/p>\n<p>To build a foundation for developing strong readers, Worrell shared three important recommendations:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Basing reading instruction on the science<\/li>\n<li>Providing teachers support and training<\/li>\n<li>Equipping students with complex and culturally responsive texts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>According to Worrell, &#8220;Schools that can provide these three levers will produce readers who will have a vastly different world ahead of them than those whose schools don\u2019t. Banks gets this.
