Whether schools will start the new year remotely or in person is on everyone’s minds. In Newark, NJ, the city’s largest charter school networks, including North Star Academy, are planning to start remotely. In-person learning will resume only when it’s been deemed safe to do so.<\/p>\n

According to Chalkbeat Newark<\/a>, it’s unclear whether Gov. Murphy will permit fully remote schedules after he’s stated that all schools must offer some in-person learning for families who want it.<\/p>\n

North Star Academy, which enrolls more than 5,000 students, intends to begin the school year remotely. Once it’s safe to re-open schools, students in 1st through 8th grade will take in-person classes at least twice a week. High school students meet in-person once a week. On remote days, students will watch recorded lessons or meet for live Zoom classes.<\/p>\n
