Charter School Leaders Invite Democratic Presidential Candidates to Visit Their Schools

  • ديسمبر 6, 2019

In an op-ed for the Daily News, Brett Peiser (CEO, Uncommon Schools), Dacia Toll (President and Co-CEO, Achievement First), and Richard Barth (CEO, KIPP Foundation), invite Democratic presidential candidates to visit their schools and see firsthand how public charter schools are making an impact on student outcomes.

quote: We urge Democratic candidates, including those pitching policies hostile to charters: visit our schools and see firsthand how our students are succeeding and thriving.

Democratic presidential candidates have spoken on the need for more equitable education, which Peiser, Toll and Barth agree on, however, there are also policies aimed at restricting charter schools. Some proposals, including cutting funding, “will harm millions of disadvantaged American children,” write the charter leaders.

Citing a poll showing most Democratic primary voters in favor of public charter schools, the authors of the op-ed argue that charters like Uncommon, Achievement First and KIPP are part of the solution.
