Providing the Best Possible Summer for All Kids

  • janvier 8, 2020

The goal of Camp Uncommon is to provide the best summer for as many kids as possible, and engages students in a variety of activities from hiking and nature discovery to athletics and arts. In addition to discovery new interests, the summer camp immerses elementary and middle school students in character-building activities.

Camp Uncommon, now Change Summer, was started by Josh Phillips who saw that not all childhood summers were created equally. He wanted to provide students from low-income neighborhoods a memorable summer experience that his own daughter enjoys.

“We keep it simple,” Josh tells Greg Richmond in a short interview. The camp focuses on what will be fun and engaging, as well as provide an emotionally safe environment for students.

The camp curriculum, according to Josh, is based on who students are in the world, how they feel about that, where they want to go, and how it all relates together.
