Alumni are an integral part of the Uncommon community. In order to better support and connect our network of over 4,000 phenomenal alums, we launched Alumni Impact to offer networking opportunities, reunions, career supports, and so much more.
We can't wait to see the heights to which this network grows!
Dean of Students, Uncommon Williamsburg Middle School
Crystal Sanchez, UCHS '14
"As an alum, it has been very interesting to see things from a teacher's perspective and it has been a great experience in understanding why teachers did and said the things they did. I was able to transition in this same way from teacher to IL because I was able to understand the purpose behind every move. The "why" was always important for the "what" because it allows others to become their best teacher selves. It has been a great experience going from student to teacher to leadership."
Special Projects Coordinator, Uncommon Canarsie Middle School
Akalah Bobb, UCC '17
"I chose to work at Uncommon because the idea of working behind the scenes in a school was really intriguing for me. I knew when I graduated college, I wanted to work a meaningful job. While I do not work with students every day, I am able to see how how my work impacts them. Projects like ensuring that students are 1:1 with Chromebooks can take so much pressure off of parents, students, and teachers. My favorite part of the job is the relationships that I have built with students, which really helps to fuel me throughout the day."
