Zaccheus Greene

Zacchaeus Greene, a sophomore at Denison University, is charting a remarkable path defined by curiosity, community, and academic ambition.

Coming to Denison, Zacchaeus found connection and joy in unexpected places—like joining an acappella group filled with students who, like him, simply love music. Despite not being music majors, they’ve created a tight-knit community where shared passion thrives beyond the classroom.

At the same time, participating in Denison Survivor, a student-led game designed to help peers meet new people and explore the campus, played a crucial role in helping Zacchaeus navigate the culture shock of college. It became a playful yet meaningful way to settle into campus life and begin the deeper journey of self-exploration.

Academically, Zacchaeus is double majoring in Gender Studies and Classics, two fields that have opened up new ways of thinking and learning. Through this lens, Zacchaeus recently presented a compelling paper, “Gendered Anger in Ancient Greek Tragedy,” at the GLCA Women, Gender, and Sexualities Conference—an experience that cemented their desire to pursue scholarship as a career. Zacchaeus now plans to become a professor, conducting research and writing about the ancient world through the critical lens of gender.

That path is already taking shape—this year, Zacchaeus is completing an internship at the Stanford Humanities Institute, working as a research assistant and tutor. With every step, Zacchaeus is not just studying the world, but actively shaping it—one idea, one conversation, and one community at a time.
