Hofstra Students, Including UCHS Teacher, Continue Teaching Placements

  • 7 4 月, 2020

When New York Governor Andrew Cuomo ordered the closure of all schools in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Hofstra’s School of Education had over 130 student teachers placed throughout Long Island the New York metro area. Thanks to the actions of Jay Lewis, Hofstra’s Associate Dean for External Relations, Field Place and Recruitment, 100 percent of these students retained their school placements and are teaching online.

One such teacher is Imani Hinson (’20), who teaches 11th grade AP History at Uncommon Charter High School. “The school was prepared, and the teachers were familiar with the technology,” she says. “That has made a difference. The students already had accounts on Kahn Academy and Google Classroom.”
