North Star Academy in Newark had a record seven graduating seniors who will receive full scholarships through the prestigious QuestBridge National College Match program to attend some of the nation’s most competitive colleges. North Star had the highest number of QuestBridge recipients among all Newark high schools.
More than 20,800 students from across the country applied for the scholarships to attend 50 colleges in the country that partner with Questbridge, which provides full scholarships to high-achieving high school seniors from low-income backgrounds. This year, 2,242 students received scholarships through the program, including 22 from Uncommon Schools which includes North Star.
The North Star Academy graduates will receive full scholarships to attend Tufts University, Emory University, the University of Chicago, Vanderbilt University, Amherst College and Duke University.
