The Three-Pronged Approach to Prepare Students for College

  • December 11, 2019

In Part 1 of a two-part series, Patrick Rametti, the Director of College Completion, speaks with Andrew Wolk, Founder and CEO of Root Cause, about academic preparation and how Uncommon Schools gets its students not just to college, but also to succeed and graduate.

Patrick sites a three-pronged approach for Uncommon’s high success rate in getting students into and through college:

  • Establishing a strong academic foundation. At Uncommon, our schools focus on academic preparation from day one, and that stems from the belief that young people need to have that strong foundation if they’re going to succeed in college and in life.
  • Supporting students. A strong education in and of itself may not be enough, particularly for students who may be living in poverty. Counselors at Uncommon don’t just talk about college. They also talk about career and life after college.
