Taijuan Ferrell

Taijuan Ferrell, a proud member of Rochester Prep High School’s Class of 2018, is now on the cusp of completing his academic journey at Niagara University.

After high school, Taijuan enrolled at Niagara with aspirations of earning his degree, but his path was soon derailed by the unforeseen challenges of the pandemic and the ensuing financial strain. This period of adversity led him to take a hiatus from his studies, but his determination to succeed never wavered.

Throughout his time away, Taijuan maintained a vital connection with his Alumni Success Coach, Britani Abraham, who provided encouragement and support to remind Taijuan that he COULD finish school.

In the spring, as Taijuan prepared to return to his studies, he reached out to Britani for assistance via the Persistence Grant, a crucial resource that would help alleviate his outstanding balance and enable him to complete his final 12 credits. The Persistence Grant paid off his outstanding balance and removed the year-long hold on his account.

Although Taijuan’s graduation has been delayed by two years beyond his initial plan, his journey stands as an inspiring example of perseverance and the power of support systems when navigating and persisting through college. We look forward to celebrating Taijuan’s triumphant finish as completes his final semester and earns his degree in Criminal Justice in the months ahead.
