We believe that every child can succeed, and our teachers work tirelessly to: discover what drives their students, identify the right supports for them, and celebrate their brilliance.
Feedback is everything. We are pioneers in real-time coaching techniques and professional training to help teachers be their best. We provide supports like high-quality curricula and assessments so you can keep your focus where it belongs—on your students’ success.
We are pioneers in using data to drive our decisions in the classroom and deliver the most effective classroom experience, differentiating based on students’ individual needs and what skills they have mastered. Our very own Paul Bambrick-Santoyo (literally) wrote the book on this topic: Driven by Data.
The best learning is joyful learning. Our classrooms and whole-school moments are full of cheers, celebrations, authentic engagement, and enthusiasm. We work to ensure our schools are full of love and joy for both students and adults.
We love our students for who they are and who they will become. Our teachers and leaders build strong personal relationships with children and families, going above and beyond to ensure that every child has the support and encouragement they need to thrive and succeed.
We help students cultivate their own voices on the path to achieving their dreams. Identity development is central to that journey, so we give students opportunities to discuss the issues that matter most to them.
"I empower my students to take charge of their learning. By having my students study independently at home, I’m instilling the value of using resources and making connections outside of school. It’s in moments like these that Uncommon’s mission—to get all students to and through college—shines."
"The first moments of class are the most exciting part of my day. Teaching is a passion for me, and when I get to greet the students at the start of each period it signals to me, and to them, that the fun is about to begin."
