Equel Easterling is a progressive educator who is an advocate for academic equity through a culturally responsive lens. Equel serves as a 5th Grade Math Teacher and Dean of Curriculum and Instruction Fellow at North Star Academy Clinton Hill Middle School in Newark, New Jersey. Equel has taught at Clinton Hill Middle School for 4 years and previously attended Clinton Hill as a middle school student himself as part of their first graduating class of 2013. A graduate of Morehouse College, Equel began his career in education as a college intern serving with Bethany Cares, Inc. Freedom Schools Program and UPS Community Service Scholar.
